STEVE'S NEW WESTERN NOW AVAILABLE!

Violence at Sunrise by Steve Hayes and Ben Bridges

Steve has just completed a new western, co-authored wth Ben Bridges. And what a western it is! Here's the blurb:

Nothing was going to stop Lute Dunbar from getting his revenge -- and certainly not the man who now stood before him, blocking his way.

He said: "If you plan on grabbing that gun, mister, you'd best get to it."

The invitation hit Cobb like a slap. Knowing there was no way back from it now, his right shoulder dipped, his knees bent just a fraction, and he was fast -- damn' fast.

But so was Lute.

A small red hole punched into Cobb's shirtfront and knocked him back through the batwings. He hit the boardwalk beyond with a hollow thud and as the batwings flipped open and shut, open and shut, Lute saw him squirm for a moment, like some gigantic worm, and then slowly roll onto one side, and finally over onto his stomach.

That was when Lute saw Cobb's back. There was nothing small about the exit wound. The .45-caliber slug had ripped Cobb's spine in two.

FIRST LOOK AT THE NEW DRIFTER COVER

Drifter's Revenge by Steve Hayes

October 2019, and we've just had our first look at Crowood's fine cover for Drifter's Revenge, which is being published in the Black Horse Western series next January.

They called him Drifter, because that's what he'd done most of his life. But no matter where he went, he always came back to Santa Rosa, New Mexico--the nearest thing he had to a home. Still, there was trouble brewing outside town, and though Drifter wanted no part of it, fate had other ideas. Against his better judgment he signed on to help a sodbuster named Albright ... and when the time came, he took Albright's side against Stillman J. Stadtlander, the ruthless cattle baron who was determined to claim Albright's land for himself.

Drifter should have saddled up and made dust, but that wasn't his way. Besides ... there was Albright's wife, Hannah, and her daughter, Libby, to think about. And though he tried to resist his feelings for them, they still stole his heart. So he loaded his guns and stepped out to challenge Stillman's rawhiders ... and that's when hell broke loose.

And in the years that followed, he would face one battle after another -- against marauding Cheyenne, against the elements and against the Great Plains themselves. But there was no quit in Will Cody. He was, as his friend Wild Bill Hickok had said, "all spit and grit." For Will Cody, however, the greatest challenge of his life was still to come. And even he didn't think he could survive it."

AT LAST - STEVE'S CLASSIC WORK ON THE HISTORY OF THE BOW AND ARROW IS BACK IN EBOOK!

Brotherhood of the Bow by Steve Hayes

Steve's 1990 non-fiction book, The Third Invention: How the Bow and Arrow Made History is back as a new digital edition entitled Brotherhood of the Bow. Here's the blurb:

Man's first invention was fire. Fire enabled Homo erectus to cook his food, keep himself warm, ward off predators and light up the night. Man's second invention was the tool -- tools, like the wheel, significantly changed his life. But wonderful as fire and tools were, they did not guarantee man's survival in a world filled with creatures much larger, stronger, quicker, and more ferocious than any human being. Man's survival as a hunter fell to a third invention -- the bow and arrow. This simple but ingenious weapon "lengthened" the hunter's arm, enabling him to hunt from a distance and in comparative safety. But any weapon that could kill animals, could also kill human beings. Man was quick to discover this, and throughout history, he used the bow and arrow to defeat and kill his enemies. Perhaps more than any other weapon, the bow and arrow was responsible for changing the course of history.

The mysterious Miriam Hargrove offered him a deal -- his freedom in return for his unique abilities as a man-hunter. His target -- a cold-blooded sonofabitch called Carson Nix. Laredo didn't have much choice in the matter, not if he wanted to go on breathing. So he took the deal, strapped his gun back on and then hit the trail. Along the way he found more than he bargained for. There was a young gunny named Will Bronson, the chance to renew acquaintance with the broken-down Mexican priest who'd raised him ... and a shot at the one thing he really wanted above all else -- redemption."

When the marshal stopped a bullet in the fight, Macahan found himself with a heavy responsibility. The marshal's dying words were clear enough. STEVE'S NEW WESTERN WITH BEN BRIDGES NOW AVAILABLE!!!

The Oklahombres by Steve Hayes and Ben Bridges

Steve's latest collaboration with Ben Bridges is now available, and furthermore, The Oklahombres is based on real-life events!

It didn't matter a damn that Bill Doolin had never killed another man, that he was a loving husband and a devoted father with a young son. No -- Bill became a target for every Deputy U.S. Marshal in Oklahoma Territory because the people hailed him as "The King of the Outlaws." That alone meant he had to die -- so his fate would set an example to anyone who thought of following his in his footsteps. While Bill and his gang, the Oklahombres, raised hell throughout the Twin Territories of Oklahoma and the Indian Nations, U.S. Marshal E. D. Nix sent three hundred of his best men out with orders to catch or kill them. And that army of badge-packers were led by Nix's 'Three Guardsmen' -- the living legends that were Bill Tilghman, Heck Thomas and Chris Madsen. But that was the thing about the Oklahombres -- they were going to be living legends too ... or die trying!

But as far as they knew, El Espada, the leader of the Comancheros who had abducted Ingrid in the dead of night, wasn't one of them. When the three friends finally took to the trail, however, they had two more guns to back their play. One belonged to Ingrid's feisty young daughter, Raven. The other was the property of Deputy U.S. Marshal Liberty Mercer ... Drifter's daughter. "It began when Noel was just a boy, and as he grew to manhood, so too did his obsession. He did everything he could to outrun it, to be normal, but even a life-changing move from England to Hollywood, California, couldn't help him suppress his urge ... the urge to indulge his particular fetish. Noel was as much a victim as the women he targetted. But when his desires exploded into violence one dark night, there could be no hope of a cure, or of ever going back to man he was before the murder ... Noel had tipped off the edge of sanity."

The answer was due to a lady rancher, Veronica Ketchum. But Veronica had problems of her own -- Stillman J. Stadtlander. Lawless had no love for Stadtlander. Their paths had crossed before, and he knew how ruthless the land-grabbing cattle-baron could be. So he decided to back Veronica in the upcoming range war. But Lawless was no fool. He knew he couldn't take on the Stadtlander's gunhawks all by himself. So he enlisted a few friends. There was the man called Drifter and the enigmatic Gabriel Moonlight. And just for good measure Lawless brought in Latigo Rawlins ... the very man who'd bushwhacked him."

Liberty was a U.S. Deputy Marshal. She also happened to be a woman. And she was getting mighty tired of having her abilities questioned time and again. Still, she set out to run the outlaws to ground, knowing it was going to tough. But even she never realized just how tough it was going to be. As she followed a trail of bodies clear across the desert known as The Devil's Anvil, she formed an uneasy alliance with the Dunn brothers, Bill and Bee -- uneasy because they weren't exactly angels themselves. And along the way she damn'-near got herself killed for trusting the wrong person. By the time the gunsmoke cleared, however, she learned something about herself that was to change her whole life."

"Many years ago, a friend of Hollywood screenwriter Steve Hayes had traveled to the Virunga Mountains of Africa, to see the gorillas there. She had looked into the eyes of a giant silverback, and it looked back at her without malice or guile but instead questioningly -- as if it too was engaged in the moment, the wonder of meeting a fellow creature who might be a distant relative. The feeling she experienced was nothing short of spiritual, and Steve was hoping for something similar. But the trip was not without its dangers, for Congolese rebels regularly waged war in the region. Then a fluke accident led to a chance encounter with Dr Robert Odoki ... Robert had devoted himself to healing the sick of this poverty-ridden country, and the two men hit if off immediately. Traveling the road to Bwindi together, seeing Africa in all its moods, they were to forge a friendship that neither expected."

BY POPULAR DEMAND ...

The Wrong Revolution by Steve Hayes

Steve's new book, The Wrong Revolution is a semiautobiographical memoir of his experiences during the Cuban Revolution. Here's the blurb: "Eric Grantley went to America to become a big movie star. When that didn't work out, he looked around for something else to satisfy his need for adventure, his desire to play the hero. He found it in the Cuban Revolution -- or so he thought. As soon as the young British ex-patriot arrived in Cuba, he discovered the awful truth about life in a war zone. And after that, Eric would never be the same ... "

The book -- another title exclusive to Amazon -- also contains a bonus in Steve's illuminating essay, My Lunch With Hemingway. Definitely not to be missed!!

But the big, fleet-footed Zulu was nobody's slave, and to prove it he escaped and headed west. Throwing in with a medicine show conman named Doc Jonah, Sam started entering county footraces to earn enough money to go back to Africa. But then his trail crossed that of Major Lawrence Devlin, and nothing was going to stop the ruthless rancher's man from winning the Fort Stockton Carnival Week race. From that moment forward Sam was cheated, beaten, shot and hunted like an animal. Worse, they took his beautiful grullo mare, U-Shee-nah, away from him. But that was Devlin's biggest mistake, because it only made Sam more determined to get his revenge ... and as Shadow Horse he became Devlin's worst nightmare."

To Set the Scene by Steve Hayes The Heart Grows Fonder by Steve Hayes Of Love and Loss by Steve Hayes Home Fires Burning by Steve Hayes

Shattered Lives by Steve Hayes Head Over Heels by Steve Hayes All Change by Steve Hayes Butterfly on the Wall by Steve Hayes

Steve's first book, Butterfly on the Wall was written over a five-year period throughout the early 1950s. Steve considered it to be more of a learning experience than anything else. Available exclusively through Amazon Kindle, The Grantley Saga tells the semi-autobiographical story of one family's struggle to survive in wartime Britain. "It was an immensely moving experience," says David, who edited the manuscript for publication. "And an invaluable record of a period of history written by someone who actually lived through it. I lived with this book for about three months -- nowhere near the five years it took Steve to write it -- but at the end I was sorry to let it go. That's how completely the characters got under my skin."

When New York businesswoman Jackie O'Hara finds out that she's terminally ill, she knows she has to put her affairs in order -- and top of her list is making peace with her estranged brother Danny. There's just one problem. Danny was the sole witness to a high-profile gangland murder, and now he's on the run from the Russian Mafia. As Jackie begins her worldwide search for Danny, she knows she's in a race against time. She could surprise everyone and live for years ... or she might die today, or tomorrow ...

In JACKIE O' the aim is to create the literary equivalent of a TV series, with each 15-18,000 word novel reading as a self-contained 'episode' which follows Jackie's ongoing search for her wayward brother.

So far Steve has written the first two books in the series, which are now available from Amazon, while Andrea has penned the third, entitled Hunt for Truth. As usual, check out Amazon's Kindle pages in the UK, America, France, Germany, Spain and Italy for more details ... or just go to our own Kindle Collection page.

At the time Holmes was investigating a rash of audacious jewel-thefts, and much to Watson's dismay spending altogether too much time at the music-hall. But because the Great Detective felt that there was more to the mysterious Mr Howard than met the eye, he accepted the case.

This in turn led to their involvement in a vicious blood-feud, a spectacular -- not to mention death-defying -- daylight robbery, the possibility of a serious diplomatic incident and finally, a thrilling climax below the brooding River Thames.
